If you like the features that Retroarch provides (I've found Retro Achievements to be a lot of fun!), I've found that the SNES 2005 core (not 2005 Plus) works best for most demanding SNES games like Super Mario RPG, though even it stutters on SMW 2: Yoshi's Island. Use SNES9x for 3DS as a standalone emulator for anything you really want to run perfectly.
